We have a new entrant to the Ring’s Pound for Pound list. Paul Williams benefited from Cristian Mijares’ fall from grace to barge into the elite list for the first time(?). Somehow I was thinking that Vic Darchinyan, after his successful campaign against Cristian Mijares, would break in, but I guess the stigma of his crushing loss to Nonito Donaire still weighs heavily in the Ring editors’ minds.

Paul Williams has one defeat too, a points loss to Carlos Quintana but he immediately remedied that via a TKO win over the same opponent in their rematch. His most notable win to date has been his victory over the formidable Antonio Margarito. His last match was against Andy Kolle (17-1-0) fought at 158 lbs., and he’ll be facing Verno Philips on November 29, 2008 for the Interim WBO light middleweight title.
